Privacy policy
This is a reference site about a physics competition. It is deliberately built so that reading it requires you to hand over nothing at all.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you personally, through this website. There is no account system, no registration, no newsletter sign-up and no contact form. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your school or your phone number in order to read anything here.
What our web server records
Like effectively every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps standard access logs. Those logs record the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, and the browser’s self-reported user agent. They exist so the site can be kept online and secure — diagnosing errors, identifying abusive traffic — and they are not used to build a profile of you or combined with anything else.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress, which publishes this site, may set functional cookies if you log in to administer it; ordinary readers are not logged in and are not issued those cookies.
Fonts and other assets
The typefaces used here are served from this site’s own server rather than from a third-party font network. That is partly a performance decision for readers in China, and partly a privacy one: no font provider receives a record of your visit. Images, stylesheets and scripts are likewise served from this domain.
If you message us
We answer questions over WeChat. If you message us there, that conversation is governed by WeChat’s own privacy terms as well as this one. We keep such conversations only for as long as it takes to answer you and to recognise you if you write again. We do not sell, rent, publish or pass on anything you tell us, and we do not add you to any mailing list — there isn’t one.
Please do not send us documents you would not want a stranger to hold: score reports, identity documents, or anything similar. We do not need them to answer a question about the rules, and we would rather not be holding them.
Links to other sites
This guide links out to aapt.org and to the registration bodies that handle entries in Asia. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, not ours.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions; the current one is the one that applies.
Asking about your data
Because we hold almost nothing, most requests are quick to answer. If you want to know what we have from a conversation with you, or want it deleted, ask us on the same channel you used to write in. See the contact page.
